It’s Time for TAFE to Shine

As student numbers surged under Free TAFE, only 7.3% of staff reported a budget increase in the past two years. Any investment will be transformative for campuses that desperately need upgrades, creating an enormous opportunity for real positive impact.

TAFE workers have told us exactly what they need:

  • 45% say teaching and training equipment is ready for an upgrade
  • 39% say building structures need investment
  • 41% say IT equipment needs modernising
  • 48% report fewer courses on offer than two years ago

The Digital Divide

More than 71% of TAFE teachers say digital skills support needs improvement. Investing in IT infrastructure will ensure TAFE keeps pace with the digital demands of modern industry.

“We have 18 computers for 152 students. With proper investment, we could give every student the digital access they need to succeed.”

The Investment We Need

To bring TAFE infrastructure up to standard, governments must:

  • Deliver a national capital works and equipment programme
  • Establish recurrent funding for equipment upgrades
  • Set minimum infrastructure benchmarks for all campuses
  • Provide dedicated campus expansion funding for growing enrolments
